Nicolae Crisan is Associate Professor of Urology at Iuliu Hatieganu University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Cluj Napoca, Romania. He works in the Urology Department of the Cluj County Hospital and he is one of the key members of the Robotic Surgery Centre in Cluj.

He has completed multiple training courses in oncologic and robotic surgery, within the Milano European Oncology Institute  Prof. Dr. Ottavio de Cobelli; specialization in urologic robotic surgery San Giuseppe Hospital in Milano  Prof. Dr. Deliu Victor Matei; training – Da Vinci Surgical System Off-Site Training Programme for a Console Surgeon IRCAD-EITS, Strasbourg, France; Robotic Kidney Transplantation training program, ORSI Academy, Melle, Belgium.

His interests and research topics concern robotic surgery, image-guided surgery and the development of new biomarkers for the early diagnosis of urologic malignancies. In this regard, Dr Crisan was part of the team that started robotic surgery in Romania and coordinated the implementation of prostate multiparametric MRI and MRI-TRUS fusion guided prostate biopsy. 

Dr Nicolae Crisan believes that technological innovation is one of the main pillars in the development of modern oncologic surgery, which not only aims to be curative, but also to offer the best long-term quality of life for these patients.
